My Second Year at LTC The past week was spent at Region One Leadership Training Conference (L.T.C.), a leadership conference open to all DeMolays in region one. The conference’s goal for my group of attendees was to aid us in any of our chapter or jurisdictional leadership positions through the teaching of pertinent and useful information. It has been held for 25 years in New Durham, New Hampshire, at Lions Camp Pride. This second time at L.T.C. gave me numerous memories that will be held close to my heart for as long as I live, just like the the first. Of the many things that have been locked away in my mind for eternity are the great times I had with fellow brothers. We did countless fun things, but none of them surpassed the amount of joy brought to me by the time my friends and I played water polo. The shallow water front was where we played the sport. Here we cheered for each other, whether we succeeded or failed in our plays. The games pulled at my heart-strings when the brotherly love shown through, as the group supported the members despite their shortcomings; these times were priceless and unforgettable. Learning lessons from very experienced advisors were some of the most insightful times in my life, and I will remember them always. Whether I was attending lessons in my jurisdictional officer or communication classes, I received great wisdom from my teachers. One of these amazing learning experiences was when I worked with Dad Rooney, Dad Farmer, and the other students to create an event for the rest of the attendees. Our group had met in a fairly large cabin where we brainstormed and coordinated the special jurisdictional officer event, and additionally learned about all of the stuff that went into planning such a large-scale operation. This session with these people taught me more than I thought possible about event planning, and gave me lessons which have been archived into my brain for years to come. The time I spent at L.T.C was full of events that have been impressed upon my soul, where they will be with me forever. Whether it was playing a brotherly game of water polo that displayed the members’ compassion for one another, or learning an immense lesson from the wise advisors, there were things that could not be forgotten from my experience. This rewarding time of my life was granted to me by the intelligent advisors, passionate brothers, helpful camp staff, and my home chapter that paid for my attending of the conference. Thank you to all of the people that made my last time at L.T.C. a rich and unforgettable one. |
